Artist: Foo Fighters I have always enjoyed the Foo Fighters, but I will admit that I was not a superfan. I thought I would give the album a listen and decide to see what was up with the new two disc format, one being the usual rock and the other being an acoustic lineup. This album is by far the greatest album in the Foo Fighters lineup. It is a very tight album that I can literally listen to over and over again, much like those ?tween girls who can listen to N?Sync for the umpteenth time. I loaded it up on the Zen and took a drive down to the Twin Cities and started up the album. It rocked right from the beginning and left me something I could move my head to while going down the freeway. By the time my head was beginning to come loose, the first disc began to wind down. That doesn?t detract from the quality. It works well to transition to the acoustic album which I can easily compare to one of my favorite acoustic albums, Nirvana Unplugged. Both albums incorporate pop hooks that are easy to remember and sing out loud with. Unfortunately, this means that those around me may be subject to some uncomfortable moments listening to me sing? Definitely give this album a listen if you get the chance, you won?t be disappointed. The only reason why I give this a four galaxy rating, rather than a perfect five is that the first disc does suffer a bit from the middle child syndrome. They are good songs, but nothing that clearly sticks out in the mind. On a side note, Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) plays some guitar on Razor. He gets his chance to shine after Grohl played drums for them on Songs for the Deaf. Too bad he wasn?t touring with them, but Queens is currently on tour and will be again with NIN, a great concert combo.
