In response to: Jane Austen - Emma

I have read this novel. And though well written, as all novels of this period tend to be, it lacks determination. It is seperated not one iota from other classics of the time such as "Evelina", "Pamela," or the latter's spoof, "Shamela." If you are interested in this time period, I would encourage you to read "Middlemarch" by George Eliot. I found it to be superior to "Emma" in every regard including theme, character development, and social relevance.
